11.10.4 Checking the Over-tem-
perature
We recommend these controls to be performed
four times a year.
Note: The overtemperature control
must be done by a responsible body
or an authorized service technician.
11.10.5 Control of Temperature
Measurement
Note: There must not be any cups in
the extraction unit during these
tests.
1. Remove the lower front panel by loosening
the three nuts, reached from underneath the
instrument.
2. Insert a reference thermometer with diameter
5 mm, in the hole in front of the hot plate.
3. Set overtemperature to 330°C.
4. Select an unused program and set the temper-
ature to 120°C.
5. Press E to heat the hot plate and wait until
120°C is reached and the temperature has sta-
bilized.
6. Read the temperature from the reference ther-
mometer. The temperature shall be within
115°C to 125°C. If not contact the FOSS An-
alytical AB Service Department.
7. Set the temperature to 185°C.
8. Wait until 185°C is reached and the tempera-
ture has stabilized.
9. Read the temperature from the reference ther-
mometer. The temperature shall be within
180° to 190°C. If not contact the FOSS Ana-
lytical AB Service Department.
10. Set the temperature to 285°C.
11. Wait until 285°C is reached and the tempera-
ture has stabilized.
12. Read the temperature from the reference ther-
mometer. The temperature shall be within
280° to 290°C. If not contact the FOSS Ana-
lytical AB Service Department.
11.10.6 Control of Over-tempera-
ture 145
Note: There must not be any cups in
the extraction unit during these
tests.
1. Turn the system off.
2. Press the E key while turning the power on.
The system will now beep intermittently as a
warning that you are in the overtemperature
test mode.
3. Set the overtemperature (OT) to 145 degrees
and lock the setting with the 5 key.
4. Select a program with a temperature setting
lower than the selected OT.
5. Press the E key to start heating the hot plate.
The hot plate will now be heated with full ef-

fect until it reaches the selected overtempera-
ture. The power cuts when it reach 120
degrees.
6. The LED lamp for the selected OT should
start to blink when the power cuts.
7. If the temperature exceeds 145 degrees imme-
diately contact the FOSS Analytical AB Serv-
ice Department and do not use the instrument
under any circumstances!
11.10.7 Resetting the Over-tem-
perature Protection
See section 11.7.7 Resetting the Over-tempera-
ture Protection p. 11:5.
11.10.8 Control of Over-tempera-
ture 210
1. Repeat the section 11.10.6 and 11.7.7 but se-
lect the overtemperature 210.
2. The power cuts when it reach 190 degrees.
3. If the temperature exceed 200 degrees imme-
diately contact the FOSS Analytical AB Serv-
ice Department and do not use the instrument
under any circumstances!
11.10.9 Control of Over-tempera-
ture 330
1. Repeat the section 11.10.6 and 11.7.7 but se-
lect the overtemperature 330.
2. The power cuts when it reach 290 degrees.
3. If the temperature exceeds 300 degrees imme-
diately contact the FOSS Analytical AB Serv-
ice Department and do not use the instrument
under any circumstances!
11.11 Replacement
In need of service contact FOSS Analytical AB or
your local representative.
Note: Replacement of electrical com-
ponents and wires should be per-
formed by a service engineer
authorized by FOSS Analytical AB.
11.11.1 Replacement of the Sol-
vent Addition Connectors
1. Before any disassembling, disconnect incom-
ing mains supply.
2. See Fig. 6:1. Remove the rear cover by un-
screw the eight screws (pos 1) and washers
(pos 2) and the three screws (pos 3) and wash-
ers (pos 4) at the rear.
3. Loose the nut (pos 5) holding the connector
(pos 6).
4. Change the connectors and nuts.
5. Assemble in reversed order.
