5.2.1 Control Unit
4
SET
This key is available in two places on the Control Unit. One is on the overheating
control part of the Control Unit for selecting the correct overtemperature. This key is
active when the 5 is opened. The second 4 key is located on the program control
part of the controller and is used for stepping between different settings, e.g. temper-
ature and times for the various extraction steps.
5
LOCK
The key is used to lock the selected overtemperature and prevent it from being
changed by unauthorized persons. When the key is in the open padlock position the
overtemperature can be changed by pressing the 4 key. The key should be control-
led/handled by the laboratory supervisor.
6
START/STOP
This key is used to start or stop the analysis program.
7 8
PLUS/MINUS
Keys used between analyses to select a program. They can also be used as stepping
keys in combination with the 4 key to increase or decrease the temperature settings.
POSITION CONTROL
This key is active only between analyses and not active when a program is running.
It is pressed each time the Extraction Unit has to be moved to different positions for
loading/unloading sample thimbles or cups. Each time the key is pressed the sample
positioning rods and/or condensers move in a preprogrammed way. There are four
positions in the loop.
Position 1
Manually load/unload thimbles = Condensers in upper position and sample position-
ing rods in lowest position. This is the default position when the power is switched
on.
Position 2
Loading/unloading thimbles and cups = condensers in upper position and sample po-
sitioning rods in upper position.
Position 3
Mate cups and condensers = condensers move to intermediate position to mate with
the cups hanging in the cup stand.
Position 4 = Position 2
F
AIR
The air pump is manually controlled by this key. The automatic start is by default set
to when there are three minutes remaining in the recovery step.
E
HOT PLATE
This key is used to preheat the hot plate prior to analysis. It also opens the cooling
water valve when the hot plate is turned on.
