3.4 Extraction Cups, Cup Stand and Cup Holder
The cup holder, with space for six extraction cups at a time, facilitates handling when
cups are placed in the Extraction Unit or weighed.
The extraction cups are made of aluminium (glass cups optional). Never place them
on a dirty surface during the analysis, as this may alter the tare weight. Before use,
check that the bottoms of the cups are clean and undamaged, otherwise boiling may
be delayed due to bad contact which results in bad heat transfer.
A cup stand is available to hold the cups during the drying step before and after ex-
traction.

3.5 Thimbles
The standard diameter of the thimbles is 33 mm and the length is 80 mm. Smaller
thimbles are also available (dia. 26 mm, length 60 mm).
Glass thimbles are available for applications involving hydrolysis.
3.6 Thimble Holder and Thimble Stand
The thimble holder supports the thimbles and is used to attach them to the magnets
of the Extraction Unit. Insert six of the thimble supports in the holder. Use the 7th for
the balance when weighing.
