7. COMMISSIONING
7.1 Scope of delivery
• 1 x Welding tongs ORBIWELD TP
• 1 x Handle
• 1 x Tool set
• 1 x Operating instructions with spare part list
• 1 x Transport case
The following accessories are mandatory for the use of the TP weld tongs and must be ordered separately:
• 1 x Control cable
• 1 x Ground cable
• 1 x Remote control with cable (required only for TP AVC/OSC versions). Already included in the scope of delivery of the Orbital
welding power source ORBIMAT 300 CA AVC/OSC.
7.2 Checking the scope of delivery
X Check the delivery for completeness and damage caused by transport.
X Report any missing parts or damage caused by transport to your supplier immediately.
7.3 Accessories
Available optionally for the TP welding tongs (for detailed information refer to the product catalog "Orbital Welding"):
• Cold-wire feeds KD (retrofitting kits)
• KD retrofitting kits
• Expansion jaw sets for TP 400
• Control cable
• Ground cable
• Remote control with cable (already included in the scope of delivery of the Orbital welding power source ORBIMAT 300 CA
AVC/OSC)
• Hose package extensions (cannot be used with TP AVC/OSC versions)
• ESG electrode grinders
• ORBmax residual oxygen meter

7.4 Preparing initial operation
Prerequisite: Welding power supply connected and ready to operate.
X Check the welding tongs, hose package, ground cable and lines for damage.
X Check the working environment for possible sources of danger and, if applicable, eliminate these.
X Check the cooling liquid tank of the Orbital welding power source – refill with cooling liquid if required.
X Check the welding tongs for loose parts and particles in the transmission.

8. SET­uP AND MOuNTING
INFO The figures shown in these operating instructions for the individual work steps are based on
an ORBIWELD TP welding tongs with KD (KD = cold wire unit), in as far as the work steps are
identical for all TP versions. Procedures or work steps that deviate are, if required, described
separately and represented in a separate figure.
8.1 Procedure
NOTE! Observe the operating instructions of the ORBIMAT welding power source!
Carry out setting up and mounting in the following order:
1. Connecting the welding tongs to the power source.
2. Clamp the welding tongs onto the workpiece.
3. Set up the electrode.
4. Set up the torch.
5. Set up the cold wire.
6. Carry out a gas and cooling liquid function test.
7. Calibrate the welding tongs drive (if required).
8. Configure the welding procedure.
8.2 Connecting the welding tongs to the power source
WARNING!
Burns through arc!
If persons trip over the hose package, the plug could be pulled out of the welding power
source and an arc may arise.
X Lay the hose package in such a manner that it is not under tension.
X Ensure that the hose package does not represent a tripping hazard.
X Attach the strain relief.
NOTE! Overheating of the torch body and damaging of the hose package because of a lack of cooling
liquid.
X Ensure that cooling liquid of the welding power source is sufficiently filled (cooling liquid
level should reach at least the "MIN" marking at the tank).
NOTE! During initial commissioning:
The hose package may be damaged while being unpacked from the packaging foil!
X Carefully sever the cable ties without damaging the hose package.
8.2.1 Connecting the welding tongs to the power source: TP Standard/KD
NOTE! The remote control is not mandatory for using the TP Standard/KD welding
tongs (optionally available).
