CUTTING
BLADES
Shuttheengine offandremove ignitionkeybefore removing the
cutting b lade(s)forsharpening orreplacement. Protect your hands
byusng heavy goves when grasp ngtheb ado.
Remove the hexflangenutthatsecures thebladeto thespindle
assembly. SeeFig.21.
Toproperly sharpen thecuttingblades, r emove e qualamounts of
metalfrombothendsof thebladesalongthecuttingedges,
parallel t othetrailingedge,at a 25 ° to 30° angle.Always grind
eachcutting b ladeedgeequally to maintain properblade balance.

expose its underside.

andthe cuttingbladeto actasa stabilizer.

Testthe blade'sbalanceusing ablade balancer.Grindmetalfromthe
heavy side until it balances evenly.
NOTE; When replacingthe blade, be sure to install the blade with the
side of the blade marked "Bottom" (or witha part number stamped in
it) facingthe ground when the mower is in the operating position.
Use a torque wrenchto tighten the blade spindrehex flange nut to
between70 Ibs-ft and 90 Ibs-ft.
