– Before using this product, carefully read these instructions
for use and those of the associated products.
– Strictly follow the instructions for use. The user must fully
understand and strictly observe the instructions. Use the
product only for the purposes specified in the intended use
section of this document.
– Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Ensure that they
are stored and used appropriately by the user.
– Only trained and competent users are permitted to use
this product.
– Do not use a faulty or incomplete product. Do not modify
the product.
– Notify Dräger in the event of any component fault or
failure.
– Comply with all local and national rules and regulations
associated with this product.
– Only trained and competent personnel are permitted to
inspect, repair, and service the product as detailed in
these instructions for use (see "Maintenance", page 10).
Further maintenance work that is not detailed in these
instructions for use must only be carried out by Dräger or
personnel qualified by Dräger. Dräger recommends a
Dräger service contract for all maintenance activities.
– Only use battery chargers, power packs, batteries, or
rechargeable batteries that Dräger has approved for this
product.
– Use only genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories.
Otherwise, the proper functioning of the product may be
impaired.
– Before occupational use of this respirator, a written
respiratory protection program must be implemented
meeting all the local government requirements. In the
United States, employers must comply with OHSA 29 CFR
1910.134 which includes medical evaluation, training, and
fit testing.

Use in explosion-hazard areas
(Dräger X-plore 8700 only)
Devices or components that are used in explosion-hazard
areas and which are certified and approved in accordance
with national or international explosion protection guidelines
may only be used under the conditions indicated in the
approval and in compliance with the relevant legal provisions.
Devices and components may not be modified. The use of
defective or incomplete parts is prohibited. The applicable
provisions must be complied with when performing repairs on
these devices or components.
Both the latest edition and other languages of these
instructions for use can be downloaded in the Technical
Documentation database (www.draeger.com/ifu). Due to
product actualizations, Dräger recommends always using the
latest edition of the instructions for use.

Product overview
The following products belong to the Dräger X-plore 8000
powered air-purifying respirator series:
– Dräger X-plore 8500
– Dräger X-plore 8700
The powered air-purifying respirator may be composed of
different components depending on its field of application and
the required protection class. Observe particularly the filter
operating limits (see Instructions for Use of the filters).
