Connecting encoders
NOTICE
Damage to the product and the encoder caused by
incorrect voltage supply range or incorrect wiring!
An incorrect voltage supply range or incorrect wiring /
pin layout may cause damage to the product and the
encoder.
Note the voltage supply range of the connected
encoder
Verify that the connecting cable between the
encoder and the product is correctly wired
Vacant pins or wires must not be used
Do not engage or disengage the connecting cable
between the encoder and the product while under
power
The connection of non-HEIDENHAIN encoders to
the product and the operation of the product with
non-HEIDENHAIN encoders are at the user's own
risk
Connections
Encoders with 15-pin interfaces are connected to the
encoder inputs X11 to X14 provided on the front panel.
For information on the location of the connections, see
"Product overview", Page 26.
For more information on the connections, see "",
Page 33.

Connecting the encoder cables
Connect the encoder cables tightly to the respective
connections
If the cable connectors include mounting screws, do
not overtighten them

Wiring of trigger inputs and outputs
Depending on the peripherals to be
connected, the connection work may need to
be carried out by an electrical specialist.
Example: Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV)
exceeded

NOTICE
Danger of damage to the product and the connected
devices caused by overvoltage!
Do not engage or disengage the trigger lines while
under power
Check the trigger connections for correct wiring
The wiring of the trigger inputs and trigger
outputs depends on the customer's
peripherals. For more information, see
manufacturer's documentation.
