Poorly set counterweights can create excess vibrations and thus cause the unit to slip.
Fixed positioning on the rotating centrifugal arm must be in accord with the DeguDent casting ring
system (1x, 3x, 6x, 9x, 12x). To adjust the counterweight, hold down the lock button and slide the
weight to the desired position. Take care that the counterweight is seated in the selected position,
i.e. the lock button protrudes from the counterweight.
A counterweight which is not locked in position can be displaced, leading to strong
vibrations, which can cause the unit to slip.
In the secured position, a more refined adjustment of the counterweight is possible by raising and
turning the outermost adjustment ring (see Fig. 2). Make sure that all parts are once again locked
into the preset positions.
The settings +1 and +2 are available for heavy rings requiring a larger mass of alloy and settings -1
and -2 for lighter rings and smaller quantities of alloys. These may be read on the central axis of
the centrifugal arm.
Casting with the centrifugal arm for torch melting
Select an RPM commensurate to the cast object. The rotation speed may be set between 350 and
450 RPM. When a phosphate investment is used we recommend a speed of 450 RPM. When
using gypsum investment however, because of lower compressive strengths, a lower RPM, for
example 350 RPM, should be used. To set the rotational speed, use the buttons on the control
board. The preset speed will be indicated by means of an illuminated diode on the button bar.
Rotate the centrifugal arm in its enclosure in such a manner that the rising, hot gases do not
accumulate inside the housing.
The ring, the crucible slides, as well as other parts are subject to extreme heating when
open flame is used for melting. Moreover, the housing can heat up depending on the
position of the centrifugal arm and the burners, and on how long the flame burns.
Parts that can with stand high temperatures during operation should never be touched unless your
hands are protected. Burns can result.
During the first start-up, odors may issue from the centrifugal arm and the housing insulation.
Discoloration of the housing insulation is also possible.
Place the casting crucible in its position and correct, if necessary, the height of the ring support to
match that of its casting mold. Do this by means of the height adjustment on the centrifugal arm.
The slide carriage for the casting crucible is provided with an automatic locking mechanism, which
prevents the crucible from touching the ring during the casting and thus damaging the latter.
To adjust the slides, lift the adjustment yoke, which also releases the locking mechanism, and then
push the slides into the desired position. The adjustment lever is designed so that it can easily be
handled with the tongs for the ring.
Following the melting of the alloy, the casting device is made ready for casting by pushing the
"Pour" button. When it is ready to pour, a signal is given by a yellow pilot light. The actual casting
will begin when the housing is closed.
