6.2.1

Cleaning

Cleaning the PID 5000 serves to flush contamination, such as
oil or calibration gas, out of the device.
Clean the PID 5000 after performing the following work:
After commissioning
After re-commissioning (e.g. after maintenance)
Procedure
1. Select the instrument menu (see chapter 4.3 on page 21).
2. Use the magnetic pen to tap on "menu" until "CLEANING"
appears on the display.
3. Select "run". Cleaning is started.
The gas inlet being cleaned is shown on the display: MEAS
(gas inlet measurement), REF (gas inlet reference).
4. Purge the PID 5000 until the displayed current values (REF
and MEAS) are below 10 pA.
5. Abort the purge operation by tapping on "abort". The
measurement process resumes.
NOTICE
If multiple purging operations do not lead to the required
current values, check the maintenance status of the
compressor system and, if necessary, contact Dräger Service.
6.2.2

Calibrating the device

1. Turn on the device at least one hour before calibration.
2. The PID 5000 must be supplied with compressed air in
accordance with DIN EN 12021.
3. After starting the device, switch to the menu and start the
"Cleaning" mode in order to purge the device. The purge
operation can be exited as soon as the displayed current
values are below 10 pA.
NOTICE
Only isobutylene 5 ppm (span gas) in synthetic air is required
as the calibration gas. The clean air (the null gas) is supplied
to the device via the gas inlet (reference) from the Air Guard's
connected compressed air supply.
► The PID 5000 automatically switches between the gas
inlets.
► The hose from the span gas' source to the gas inlet
(measurement) must be as short as possible.
► The hose must consist of material that neither absorbs the
calibration gas nor lets gases escape that can falsify the
measurement result.
4. Access the menu and select the "Calibration" menu item.
