Epicondylitis clasp
This product requires qualified and individual adaptation to
the patient by specialist staff.
Purpose:
Epi-med is an Epicondylitis clasp with silicone pads. The
®
orthosis may only be used for elbow treatment.
How it works:
The Epi-med epicondylitis clasp compresses the forearm
®
musculature below the elbow, thus bringing mechanical
relief to the tendon attachments at the epicondyle (bone
projection) and relieving the extensor and flexor musculature.
This biomechanical adjustment of the areas under strain in
the elbow leads to a noticeable improvement, frequently to
complete relief from pain.
Indications:
• Tendinopathy (inflammation of the tendon attachments) in
the elbow
• Medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow)
• Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
Contraindications:
Large skin lesions or diseases, extended hematomas or
severe swelling
Side effects:
No side effects are as yet known for correct use.
Directions for applying:
Position the opened clasp from the outside onto the ou-
ter forearm so that the larger of the two pads rests on the
upper side of the forearm and is turned slightly towards the
body. The Epi-med clasp is then closed using the elastic
®
strap. The strap is fastened to the hook and loop fastener
firmly but not tightly. Tighten the strap up to the tactile mark
(A) engraved on the fleece belt strap. The Epi-med
should not exert tangible pressure when the musculature is

relaxed, compression should be felt only when the forearm
musculature is tensed.
Use of the silicone compression pads (flexipads):
If the clasp pressure is not sufficient, it is possible to increase
it by using the enclosed flexipads. To do this, remove the
fastened padding partially in the corresponding area and
position the flexipad in the area which is bordered by the
Velcro fastening (B). Then re-fasten the padding and press on
firmly.
Care:
To clean the padding, remove it and wash it with a mild
detergent at 30°C. Carefully squeeze the water out and dry
the padding away from a heat source. The plastic clasp and
the belt can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
