The first oil change of a new engine is necessary after 5 operating hours, and thereafter
every 50 hours of operation or at least once per season.
Regularly check the oil level. Check the oil level every 8 hours or prior to starting the
engine.
Before the engine or whole device is tipped to drain the oil off, empty the petrol
tank and allow the engine to run until it stops due to lack of fuel.
Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable. Set stop switch to
„OFF" position X2 and close petrol tap Y2 .
Change the oil with the engine still warm.
To change oil, unscrew the oil cap at the front in mowing direction and lay the
scarifier on its side so that the used oil drains into the catch tray.
Old oil should be disposed off in accordance with the relevant local
regulations and on no account be discharged into the sewerage system or
into the ground.
Turn the scarifier upright and pour high quality oil (for quantity and type, see
technical data) into the filler. Screw on the oil filler plug and check oil (see Chapter
Filling with oil, illustration Y1 )!

Loosen the screw and tilt the cover (1) to the back.
Carefully remove the pre-filter (2) and the filter element (3).
Clean the filter element (3) every 100 operational hours.
Lightly knock out the filter element (3) on a flat surface or replace it if very dirty.
Never lubricate the element with oil or blow it with compressed air. Severely dirty
or damaged filter elements must be replaced.
Clean the pre-filter (2) every 25 operational hours.
Wash the pre-filter in warm water with a liquid detergent, squeeze it out in a clean
cloth and air-dry it thoroughly. Do not lubricate the pre-filter with oil. Severely dirty
or damaged pre-filters must be replaced.
After cleaning or replacement of pre-filters and filter elements, place the pre-filter
above the filter element (arrows pointing up) (the pre-filter lip is located at the
bottom side of the folds).
Place the guides on the cover (1) into the slots at the bottom of the air filter plate
(4).
Flip the cover to the top and firmly tighten the screw.
When working in unfavourable operational conditions (severe formation of dust),
cleaning is required after every scarifying procedure.
(Please see original spare parts and accessories for order no. of filter element and pre-
filter)

To check for wear, remove the spark plug connector and unscrew the spark plug. If the
electrode is badly worn the spark plug must be replaced as a matter of course. (Order
no. see original spare parts list and accessories).
Otherwise it is sufficient to clean the spark plug and set the electrode gap to 0.7 mm.
Screw the spark plug (pay attention to sealing ring) into the engine by hand and tighten
using the socket wrench. Press on spark plug connector. Replace the spark plug
annually.
