See fi gure 13.
RBC430SBD
See fi gure 11.
■ Stop the engine.
■ Rotate the bump knob clockwise as necessary to align
the arrows on the bump knob with the arrows on the
string head housing.
■ Cut one piece of 2.4mm diameter trimmer line 5.4 m
long. Insert the line into the eyelet on the string head
housing. Push until the end of the line comes out the
other side of the housing. Pull the line until equal
amounts of line appear on both sides of the housing.
NOTE: Line may jam if more than 5.4 m is loaded.
■ Rotate the bump knob on the line trimer head to wind
the line.
■ Wind the string until approximately 20 cm remained
protruding from the string head.

FUEL CAP
A leaking fuel cap is a fi re hazard and must be replaced
immediately.
The fuel cap contains a non-serviceable fi lter and a
check valve. A clogged fuel fi lter will cause poor engine
performance. If performance improves when the fuel cap
is loosened, check valve may be faulty or fi lter clogged.
Replace fuel cap if required.
REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG
RBC430SESD
See fi gure 15.
RBC430SBD
See fi gure 13.
This engine uses a Champion RY4C or NGK CMR7A
spark plug with 0.6mm electrode gap. Use an exact
replacement and replace annually.
Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Cross-
threading will seriously damage the engine.
ADJUSTING CAMSHAFT-TO-ROCKER ARM
CLEARANCE
See fi gure 14.
Inspect the camshaft-to-rocker arm clearance after every
25 hours of operation or if the engine can't go idle or if the
wide open throttle speed is too low. This should be done
in a clean, dust-free environment.
NOTE: This procedure requires partial disassembly of the
engine. If you are unsure if you are qualifi ed to perform this
