The plasma welding torches work with two arcs (pilot and main arcs)
adjustable independently of one another and supplied with power from the
power supply. The pilot arc is burning between a cathodically poled tungsten
electrode and an anodically poled copper nozzle. It is ignited by means of a
high-frequency voltage and used to ignite the main arc. The main arc is burning
between the tungsten electrode and the anodically poled work-piece. The
plasma gas exits at the opening of the plasma nozzle as a high-energy plasma
jet and provides the thermal energy required for welding. The filler material is
fed to the process in wire form. The arc and the molten pool are protected by
the inert gas or the active gas components. The cable assembly serves as a
supply line and is equipped with all connection elements.
This chapter gives you all the information that must be taken into account when
putting the welding torch into operation.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to unexpected start-up.
For the entire duration of maintenance, servicing, dismounting and repair
work, the following instructions must be adhered to:
• Switch off the power supply.
• Cut off the gas supply.
• Pull the mains plug.
