INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISINFECTING YOUR FAUCET AFTER
YOU HAVE USED YOUR UCU MODEL WITHOUT FILTERS
You will need:
• Bucket or container that will hold at least 2 liters
• 100 ml (1/2 cup) of bleach
• 1 Liter of bottled water
Steps:
1. Disconnect the Inlet Assembly from the base and re-install the empty Main Filter
housing (remove the used Main Filter Media Insert).
2. Pour 100 ml (½ cup) of bleach into the cartridge and fill it the rest of the way with
bottled water.
3. Attach the EM Pre-Filter Cartridge (with insert) and reconnect the Inlet Assembly.
4. Turn on the faucet and run ½ liter of water.
5. Wait for 5 minutes.
6. Remove the Pre-Filter.
7. Invert the base with the main filter housing into a bucket and pour out the remaining
water. Be careful, the water contains bleach so if it splashes it could damage clothing
or rugs.
Do not rinse it out with unfiltered water.
8. Install a new Main Filter Media Insert in the Main Filter housing.
9. Reassemble the unit.
10. Turn on the faucet and run water for 5 minutes.
Your system is now disinfected.
