ParaPost Taper Lux
®
Cleaning and Sterilization
Posts: Initiate cleaning by soaking the post(s) for 5 minutes in a
solution consisting of an enzymatic cleaner, such as Terg-a-Zyme
and de-ionized water at approximately 20°C (68°F). Follow the
agent manufacturer's instructions.
Clean the post(s) by brushing away from the post while keeping
it immersed in an enzymatic cleaning/disinfecting agent validat-
ed for use on dental instruments. Special care should be taken
to clean crevices and other hard to reach areas. Thoroughly rinse
with tap water. Dry using a paper towel.
Additional cleaning can be performed in an ultrasonic cleaner
for 5 minutes. Remove and thoroughly rinse with tap water; dry
with a paper towel.
Place post(s) into a small, clean covered glass container.
Autoclave Sterilization: ParaPost Taper Lux may be dynam-
ic-air-removal steam sterilized (4 minutes at 132°C followed by
drying for 20 minutes). Follow manufacturer's recommenda-
tions. Posts must be sealed in a sterilization pouch before use
in autoclave. Alternatively, sterilize in a pre-vacuum chamber at
134°C for 3 minutes or 134°C for 6 minutes.
Drills: Prior to each use, remove debris ultrasonically or by hand
scrubbing with a brush; thoroughly rinse and dry. Place drills,
with a sterilization indicator, into an autoclave bag and seal.

Steam sterilize at 132°C for 12 minutes. Sterilizing bags should
not touch the walls of the autoclave. Alternatively, sterilize in a
pre-vacuum chamber at 132° for 4 minutes, 134° for 3 minutes
or 134° for 6 minutes Once the sterilization monitor indicates
that sterilization has been achieved, place autoclave bag, with
the drills inside, in storage until ready for use.
Universal Hand Driver: Prior to each use, remove debris
ultrasonically or by hand scrubbing with a brush. Sterilize by
following instructions for drills above.

Post Removal Technique
1. Take a radiograph of the tooth that requires post removal.
2. Carefully estimate length and diameter of ParaPost Taper Lux
post to be removed. If possible, consult patient's record.
3. Remove any restorative or core material which may be in the
way to gain direct straight-lineaccess to the post.
4. Wear full face safety mask when removing post from tooth.
Indent the center of the post using a # 1/2 round bur at
high speed.
5. Carefully drill an initial channel into the center of the
ParaPost Taper Lux Post using a Kodex twist drill (cat. # K95
