3.3.3.
The sequence begins when the cylinder is at drain speed and the next operation is an extract.
1. The inverter determines the amount of imbalance within the cylinder at drain speed.
2. The control software evaluates whether the next machine operation is a final extract.
Throughout any extract step, the control software monitors the excursion switch and recycles the
extract sequence if the excursion switch trips.
If the Next Operation is an Intermediate Extract
3.3.3.1.
1. The OoB detection system compares the amount of imbalance to a fixed threshold value.
• If the imbalance is greater than the fixed threshold value, the OoB detection system limits
the speed to a slow speed (210 RPMs) for the intermediate extract step.
• If the imbalance is less than the fixed threshold value, the control software balances the
load and completes the extract step at the programmed speed.
2. The OoB detection process stops until the cylinder accelerates to drain speed again.
If the Next Operation is a Final Extract
3.3.3.2.
1. The control software evaluates whether the amount of imbalance can be offset by injecting
water in cylinder ribs opposite the imbalance.
2. If the imbalance can be offset, the machine control software advances to the final extract step.
3. If the imbalance is too large to be offset by injecting water in cylinder ribs, the control
software recycles the extract sequence up to three times.
4. If the imbalance remains above the balance threshold value after the third recycle attempt, the
control software limits the cylinder speed to the fixed slow speed (210 RPMs).
5. If the imbalance is less than the fixed threshold value, the control software balances the load
and completes the extract step at the programmed speed.
6. The control software monitors the excursion switch and injects water into the cylinder ribs to
offset the imbalance.
If the Excursion Switch Trips
3.3.3.2.
1.
accelerating the cylinder to the programmed extract speed, the following events occur:
1. The controller software recycles the extract sequence.
2. The OoB detection system recalculates the amount of imbalance
• If the new amount of imbalance is more than the maximum amount that can be balanced
after a maximum of three extract sequence recycles, the controller software completes the
extract step at the fixed slow speed (210 RPMs). The control software monitors the
excursion switch and repeats the recycle process if the switch trips.
• If the new amount of imbalance can be offset by injecting water in the cylinder ribs, the
control software balances the load and completes the extract at the programmed speed.
If the Excursion Switch Does not Trip
3.3.3.2.
2.
acceleration to the programmed speed, the extract step continues to completion at the
programmed speed.
