7 Operation

7.6 Igniting the torch

NOTICE
• The plasma pilot arc is struck by high-frequency pulses when the trigger (on the manual
torch) is actuated and after a gas pre-flow time.
• When starting the initial arc (via the soft start device), the cutting nozzle must not touch
the workpiece.
• Contact between the cutting nozzle and the workpiece causes the soft start process to
malfunction.
• Use the accessories for an optimum cutting nozzle distance from the workpiece.
• The cutting arc is ignited on the workpiece. The cutting jet is interrupted when contact to
the workpiece is discontinued or the control voltage is interrupted using the trigger.
• Please observe the required gas post-flow time for cooling the torch.
To prevent inadvertent ignition, put down the cutting torch in such a way that the lever-type
trigger cannot be actuated.

7.7 Cutting process

CAUTION

Risk of injury

• Prior to each cutting process, check your personal protective equipment.
NOTICE
• All necessary parameters (such as the cutting current, soft start, compressed air, etc.) must
be set on the power source in accordance with the cutting operation.
• Information and tips on the direct cutting process (technique, procedure, materials,
plasma...) can be found in the relevant technical literature rather that in these operating
instructions.
WARNING
Arc eye
The arc produced by cutting can damage the eyes.
• Wear your personal protective equipment.
• Check the personal protective equipment before every cutting process.
