Motor and Fan Assembly
1. Remove the bolts securing the upper case cover to the
heater's chassis. Boss 1000 DF: also remove lifting ring
screws.
2. Lift the cover from the heater for access to the fan.
3. Remove the following:
-- Fan from motor shaft using a wrench.
-- Motor mounting bolts from motor mount bracket.
4. When reinstalling the fan, ensure the fan is fl ush with
shaft end and the set screw is positioned on the fl at of
the motor shaft before tightening. Boss 1000: Ensure
motor shaft key is installed prior to tightening fan
to motor shaft. (If key is lost, obtain locally a 1 3/8 x
3/16 in. bar stock.)

Igniter
The igniter is responsible for igniting the gas through spark.
It is also used as a fl ame sensor proving to the
ignition control that burner fl ame is present.
Proper maintenance is essential for heater operation.
Routine Maintenance
Reach down the heater's barrel, and using a small wire
brush, clean the igniter's electrode to remove any carbon
deposits or other residue.

Replacement
1. Remove the bolts securing the upper- case cover
to the chassis.
2. Disconnect the ignition cable.
3. Remove the igniter mounting screw.

Ignition Cable
The ignition cable provides high voltage from the ignition
control to the igniter to generate spark.
Ensure the cable is securely connected at both ends. Poor
connections create poor spark and poor fl ame sense that
may cause the heater to shut down.
Remove the case top and control box cover for access to
the ignition cable.
Testing the cable: Connect an ohm meter to both ends
of the cable. A good cable will read anywhere from 6 to 10
k ohm.
