1. Safety instructions

I The following instructions must be
observed. Incorrect operation may present
a risk of damage or injury.
Never operate the machine in a damp envi-
ronment. The machine must not be allowed
to become damp.
Wear protective gloves.
Wear protective goggles.
Wear ear protectors.
The use of accessories not designed for
this machine may cause damage to it
and increase the risk of accidents.
Do not use the machine if the supply cord
is damaged. If the supply cord suffers
damage or is cut through while the ma-
chine is in operation, pull out the mains
plug immediately and do not touch the
supply cord.
I Note: Observe the safety precautions.
I Do not use this hand-held circular saw
in any way other than as described in these
operating instructions.
I Use the circular saw only in a dry environ-
ment. Use of a fault current protection switch
increases safety at work.
I Always use the guards/safety equipment
that belong to the machine.
I Always use the riving knife.
I The circular saw may be used, adjusted
and maintained only by persons who are
familiar with the operating procedures and
aware of the associated risks.
I Bring the blade into contact with the work-

piece only after the circular saw has been
switched on.
I The area above and below the kerf must be
free of obstructions. Do not saw into screws
and nails etc.
I Do not use the machine for sawing overhead.
I Do not attempt to brake the speed of the
saw blade by pressing it to the side.
I Do not use:
• blunt saw blades
• saw blades in which the thickness of the
blade's steel disc is greater than that of the
riving knife
• saw blades in which the cutting width is less
than the thickness of the riving knife
• cracked or distorted saw blades
• cutting discs designed for use with an angle
grinder
• hardened steel saw blades (HSS steel)
I The pivoting guard must not be jammed in the
open position. It must be able to move freely.
I While working, always guide the saw away
from your body.
I Always disconnect the supply cord plug from
the mains socket before beginning any work on
the machine (changing blades or making adjust-
ments etc.).
I Ensure that the machine is switched off be-
fore connecting the supply cord plug to the mains
socket.
I Always guide the supply cord away to the rear
of the machine.
I Always use both hands to guide the machine.
I Do not touch the rotating saw blade while
the machine is in operation. Do not touch the
part of the blade projecting beneath the
workpiece, the clamping flange or the flange
screw.
I The saw blades used should be in good con-
dition. This will ensure that good cutting perfor-
mance is achieved and will reduce the load on
the machine.
I Trouble-free operation of the machine can
be ensured only when Hilti original
accessories are used.

2. Correct use

The machine is designed for cutting softwood,
hardwood, plywood, plastics and other similar
materials. It must not be used to cut metals. The
user of the machine is liable for any damage
caused by misuse, e.g. carrrying the machine
by the supply cord, pulling the plug out of the
socket by pulling on the supply cord, use of
the wrong saw blades etc. The list of safety pre-
cautions and generally accepted accident pre-
vention regulations for working with electric tools
must be observed.
3. Operation
Before operation
Before switching on the machine, check to
ensure that the saw blade runs true and ro-
tates freely, and that the riving knife is cor-
rectly adjusted.
I Caution! Disconnect the supply cord plug
from the mains socket before adjusting the
riving knife. The thickness of the riving knife
must be less than the cutting width of the saw
blade and greater than or equal to the thick-
ness of the blade's steel disc.
For safety reasons, the riving knife must always
be used. The riving knife is designed to prevent
jamming/sticking of the saw blade. It should be
adjusted while cutting depth is set at maximum.
Loosen the fastening screws 14, adjust the riving
knife 9 (fig. 5) and then retighten the screws 14.
I Remove any adjusting tools or wrenches
etc. before starting the machine.
Operation
I Hold the machine securely and maintain
a secure stance.
I Put the machine down only after the piv-
oting guard has closed.
The mains supply voltage must correspond with
the information printed on the rating plate.
Switching the machine ON/OFF
I Caution! Do not switch on the machine
while the blade is in contact with the work-
piece.
Switching on: Press the switch-on interlock 17
and the ON switch 18 simultaneously.
Switching off: Release the ON switch 18.
The circular saw is equipped with an automatic
saw blade brake. The braking procedure begins
immediately after releasing the ON/OFF switch
(18), causing the saw blade to come to a stand-
still.
Protecting the saw blade
I Protect the circular saw blade from damage.
I Never lay the circular saw blade down on hard
materials. The carbide-tipped teeth could suffer
damage.
Changing the saw blade (Fig. 3)
I Caution! Disconnect the supply cord
plug from the mains socket before chang-
ing the saw blade.
Lay the machine down on the supporting ribs at
the motor end. When changing a saw blade, pre-
vent rotation of the motor spindle by using one
hand to press the spindle lockbutton 10.
Removing the saw blade (Fig. 5)
The hex. socket wrench required for releasing
the flange screw is located beneath the motor
endcap. Adjust the saw to a cutting depth of 0
by way of the cutting depth adjusting lever 1.
Use the hex. socket wrench 19 to unscrew the
