The pumping station must be built in compliance
CAUTION !
with industry standards (access door, frame, cable
securing, etc.), and generously dimensioned to reduce the number
of motor starts.
5.2 Hydraulic connections
- In the case of an outdoor installation, pipes, valves, electrical
controls, etc., must be protected from frost.
- Use discharge pipes of diameter greater than or equal to the pump
discharge diameter.
- The non-return valves must always be installed on the upper part of
the discharge pipe (out of the pumped fluid).
On the discharge pipe, place a 4-mm diameter
CAUTION !
hole in front of the non-return valve to automati-
cally purge the installation in the event the pump becomes drained
(See FIG. 1).
Multiple installation
- In the event of several units being installed, place an non-return
valve on each line.
- Connect valves directly to the collector flanges installed on the
upper part of the well.
- The suctions of the units must be separated by about 1 meter to
avoid hydraulic interference.
IN A FULL WELL :
The regulators must be correctly held in the well.
CAUTION !
Never place the level regulators close to the well
inlet pipe, because this may cause it to move. Make sure that the
lower regulator is not sucked in by the pump; distance it from the
suction inlet.
5.3 Electrical connections
Electrical connections and inspection must be performed by
a qualified electrician in compliance with applicable local
regulations.
- Make sure that the main electrical installation complies with the
CEI364-1 standard and that the power supply is equipped with a
high-sensitivity differential circuit-breaker (30 mA max.).
- Connections must be made before the pump is lowered into the
well.
- Check that power supply type, voltage and frequency match the
information on the pump's rating plate.
- Electrical protection of the pump is mandatory, either by circuit-
breaker or by control box.
Power supply
Use a cable which complies with applicable local regulations. The
units are delivered with a 5-m electrical cable (connection by plug
on models 56-1/56-15 and 56-32, See FIG. 2).
Cable type
56-1 / 56-15 / 56-32 : H07RNF (4x1.5)
56-50
: NSSHöu (4x1.5)
56-100
: NSSHöu (4x2.5)
DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE GROUND CONNECTIONS.
Incorrect connection of electrical cables will result in dama-
ge to the motor.
5.4 Float installation
Make sure that the floats are positioned correctly (1 or 2 pumps). For
installation, refer to the instructions in the control box or cabinet.
6. STARTING
6.1 Checking the direction of rotation
After the pump has been used for the first time and after any servi-
cing involving the pump being taken out of the water, check rotation
direction.
Suspend the unit by its hoist handle. Switch on (only for a few
seconds). The pump should start to rotate counterclockwise.
Caution: There may be a significant jerk at start-up.
If the direction of rotation is not correct, invert the phase wires in the
control cabinet.
In the event of the pump being submerged, the stronger flow indi-
cates correct rotation direction. When several pumps are connected
to a common installation, check each pump individually.
Single-phase motor (56-1-M)
No risk of inversion: the pumps are factory wired so that rotation
direction is always correct.
6.2 Operation
- Before installing the pump, carefully clean the well and the piping.
- Make sure that the piping is connected correctly.
- Fill the well with water, and purge the discharge piping. Open the
isolation valves (in the case of a fixed installation).
- Check that the level regulators can move freely.
- Make sure that the alarm and on/off levels are correctly set.
- Connect power to the installation.
• Manual operation: on/off using the circuit-breaker.
• Automatic operation: on/off by level regulators.
7. MAINTENANCE
No particular maintenance during operation.
7.1 Periodic Servicing
The pump operates without supervision. However, in view of the type
of liquid pumped, we recommend checking the pump and carrying
out an oil change after every 3000 hours of operation.
Before any servicing on the pump, disconnect the pump from the
power supply and check that there is no electrocution hazard. In the
case of the Yn 4000 control box being used, place the selector on "O"
and lock the handle. If servicing the pump, carefully clean the pump
using clean water before touching it. Observe local safety regula-
tions.
The pump does not require any particular maintenance. However,
regular checks and scheduled maintenance improve operational
safety. A maintenance check is recommended at least once a year.
If the operational conditions are particularly difficult and the pumped
fluid is particularly muddy or sand-laden, inspect the pump more
often.
Check the following points :
Cable
Make sure that the cables are not damaged.
Body
Inspect for corrosion. If necessary, renew paint.
Bearings
Check that they do not make noise and that the shaft turns freely.
Level regulators
Check operation and freedom of movement. Remove any deposits
which may have formed on the outer cover.
Impeller
Check wheel wear.
Casing
Check that there are no solid or fibrous particles. If necessary, disas-
semble the strainer and pump body, remove the particles, clean the
hydraulic part using a low-pressure water jet and re-assemble.
7.2 Replacement frequency
The following recommendations are given only as a guideline.
Replacement frequency is dependent on pump operating condi-
tions.
