14.19 Disconnecting and connecting
the battery
Risk of injury!
When disconnecting the battery,
always remove the black negative
(–) cable first and only then, the red
positive (+) cable.
When connecting the battery,
always connect the red positive (+)
cable first.
The battery is maintenance free
and must only be replaced if it is
damaged and must be removed in
the case of prolonged
immobilisation (e.g. winter break).
Remove the battery before
disposing of the machine.
Do not dispose of the battery with
domestic waste, but hand it in to a
specialist dealer or at a hazardous
waste collection point.
● Stop the engine. (

● Remove the ignition key and keep it in a
safe place.
● Remove the steering column cover.

Disconnecting the battery:
Unscrew nut (1) from black connection
cable (2) using two spanners (A/F 8).
Remove the screw, washer and nut,
remove connection cable (2) from the
battery negative (–) terminal.

Detach cap (3). Unscrew nut (4) from red
connection cable (5) using two spanners
(A/F 8). Remove the screw, washer and
nut, remove connection cable (5) from the
battery positive (+) terminal.
● Remove the battery if necessary.

● Reattach screws, washers and nuts to
the battery negative (–) and positive (+)
terminals for safe keeping.
● Install the steering column cover if
necessary. (

Connecting the battery:
● Check the battery voltage before
installing the battery. If the minimum
voltage is not achieved, fully recharge
the battery using a battery charger
before installation.
Minimum voltage: 11,5 V
● Install the battery. (

● If necessary, remove the screw, washer
and nut from the battery.
Attach the terminal connector of red
connection cable (4) to the battery
positive (+) terminal.
Tighten the connection cable with
screw (5), washer (6) and nut (7) using
two (A/F 8) spanners.
Tightening torque: 4 - 5 Nm
Fit cap (3) onto the connection.
