Observe the mains voltage: The
voltage and frequency of the power source must
comply with the specifi cations on the machine's
identifi cation plate. An outlet voltage or frequency
incompatible with that specifi ed on the identifi ca-
tion plate can result in serious hazards and dam-
age to the tool.

Setup

In North America, only Festool
machines with the voltage specifi cations 120 V/60
Hz may be used.

Prior to initial operation

- Remove the transport safety device (3.4) from
the guide rod.
On/Off switch
– Press the on/off switch (1.2) as far as possible to
unlock the saw unit and the pivot guard.
– Press the switch-on lock (1.3).
– Press the on/off switch (1.2) all the way in to
start the machine.
– Release the on/off switch again to switch off the
machine.

Extension Cable

If an extension cable is required, it must have a
suffi cient cross-section so as to prevent an exces-
sive drop in voltage or overheating. An excessive
drop in voltage reduces the output and can lead
to failure of the motor. The table shows you the
correct cable diameter as a function of the cable
length for the KAPEX.
Total extension cord lenght
(feet)
Cord size (AWG)
Use only U.L. and CSA listed extension cables.
Never use two extension cables together. Instead,
use one long one.
Note:
The lower the AWG number, the stronger the
cable.

Adjustments

Always pull the plug out of the
socket before performing any type of work on the
machine.
