14. PErSONAL PrOtECtION MEANS/EQUIPMENt
14.1. FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT OF PERSONNEL ON BOARD
In order to make transport in ADR exemption is not specifically requested the allocation of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
it is anyway advisable, in order to comply with current legislation and legislation on health and safety at work (Decree Law 81/08 Lgs. D.
106/2009), to have the following personal protective equipment (PPE):
– n° 1 pair of work gloves in accordance to EN 374
– n° 1 pair of slip resistant boots
– eye protection glasses
– eye wash water in case of contamination.
In case of non-exempt transport (i.e. transport of n. 860 litres of diesel with n° 2 Ctk 450 + further n. 6 cans of 25 l of diesel fuel, for a total
of 1010 litres, or transport of 920 litres of diesel with n° 1 Hippotank + further n. 5 cans of 25 l of diesel fuel, for a total of 1020 litres) all the
equipment provided for in chap. 8.1.5 ADr is compulsory (see also § 10.3).
14.2. FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT OF THE VEHICLE
In order to make transport by ADR exemption is not specifically requested a special equipment for the vehicle, it is anyway advisable that
the vehicle has a suitable drain cover, a sufficient quantity of inert material (e.g. sand) to contain and absorb any losses, a suitable tool for
collecting (e.g. shovel or spade spark proof), a containment device.
15. tOtAL EXEMPtION-rEQUIrEMENtS SUMMAry (CHAP. 3.2.1.)
With reference to ADr § 1.1.3.1 a) and c), to transport fuel in packaging Carrytank, ADr provisions do not apply.
15.1 NON APPLICABLE PROVISIONS
– ADr
– the driver may not have ADr licence.
– Orange panels of danger should not be exposed in front of and behind the vehicle.
– It is possible the presence on board of passengers, as well as of the members of staff, always allowed 10.
– ADr safety instructions are not mandatory.
– Personal and vehicular special equipment are not mandatory (anyway recommended).
– the company is not obligated to appoint a consultant enabled for safety of transportation (Lgs. D. 35/2010).
15.2. RESIDUAL OBLIGATIONS/BANS/RECOMMENDATIONS
In any case the following obligations remain:
– Use of suitable containers.
– Supply for internal storage is not allowed.
– Only the "direct" routes are allowed to or from the supply place.
– Make the transport safely avoiding product leakage.
– It is necessary to respect the max. degree of packaging fill (see chap. 12.2).
– Make sure that the packaging is not damaged, in particular with reference to closures and seals.
– the parcels should be kept clean from any residue of dangerous goods to their outside.
– Adequate stability must be guaranteed against any possible impact or movement on the floor of the vehicle, ensuring the visibility of the
danger labels.
– Maintain in good condition, and if necessary replace, the danger labels.
– After any spillage of dangerous goods on the loading platform, thoroughly clean it.
– You should have at least n° 1 ABC powder fire extinguisher min. 2 kg, suitable for extinguish the fire engine, easily accessible, sealed
and subject to six-months supervision as per label.
– Portable lighting device shall have any spark-proof requirements.
– We recommend ADr transport document duly completed, including summary documentation of the calculation of the quantity of dangerous
goods actually transported, required to prove they have not exceeded the maximum quantities admitted for the exemption (see chap. 5).
15.3. ABSOLUTE PROHIBITIONS
In any case the following prohibitions remain:
– Smoking (on the vehicle and its vicinity)
– tampering with packages transported
– Using open flame for lighting (eg. lighters)
– Delivering packages in the presence of loss of content, or inadequately secured
– on the loading platform
– Passing within tunnels at whose entrance is the sign of
– ban of transit of dangerous goods.
Please note that, however, according to existing national regulations, there is a ban on carrying aboard the truck anyone who do not have a direct and demonstrable

function connected to loading/unloading/transport.
