Important safety information
1. Before installing the Blocstop™ BSA fall
arrest device, to ensure safe, efficient use
of the device, make sure you have carefully
read this manual and clearly understood the
rules and instructions detailed. A copy of this
manual should always be available to all
installers and operators. Additional copies
can be obtained on request to Tractel.
2. The Blocstop™ BSA fall arrest device
described in this manual must only be
installed on a man-lifting suspended platform.
3. Before installing your fall arrest system, you
must be appropriately trained in integration of
the fall arrest system in the lifting installation.
4. Do not install the fall arrest device if any of
the markings, as shown in the "Markings"
section of this manual, are not in place or are
illegible. Labels can be supplied on request.
These must be fastened to the device before
continuing any installation operation.
5. As indicated in this manual, you must
continuously monitor the condition of your
fall arrest device and make sure it is properly
maintained. Return any device which shows
any signs of damage to Tractel or to your
distributor.

6. Make sure that any person to which

installation or maintenance of your fall arrest
device has been entrusted is perfectly familiar
in use of the device and is qualified to ensure
all the safety requirements.
7. The fall arrest device must only be installed
and maintained under conditions satisfying
all the safety requirements of the regulations
applicable to the device category.
8. Tractel shall not be held liable for any
consequences resulting from use of the fall
arrest device in an installation configuration
not described in this manual.
9. The fall arrest device must never be mounted
on a lifting installation for which the working
load limit exceeds the working load limit
of the Blocstop™ BSA fall arrest device
as indicated in this manual. The fall arrest
devices must never be used in an explosive
environment.
10. Any changes made to the fall arrest device
without Tractel authorisation shall release
Tractel of any liability, especially as concerns
replacement of genuine parts by parts from
another source.
11. The fall arrest device must be inspected
periodically by a technician as indicated in
this manual.
12. To ensure safe use of the fall arrest device,
only wire ropes specially designed by Tractel
for these fall arrest devices must be used.
13. When the fall arrest device is not used, it
should be placed out of reach of all persons
not authorised to use it.
14. On definitive removal from service of the fall
arrest device, the device should be scrapped
under conditions preventing any future use
of the device. All environment protection
regulations must be observed.
15. The fall arrest and lifting wire rope used in
the installation must be in good condition
to ensure correct, safe use of the fall arrest
device. The condition of the wire ropes must
be checked each time before using the lifting
installation as indicated in the "Periodic
maintenance and inspection" section. Any
wire rope showing signs of damage should
be scrapped.
