2. Fit the 12-, 9- and 1-wire wiring harnesses as well as the socket housing
Detach the luggage compartment cover and the luggage compartment floor coverings and remove
the rear body panel trim.
Push the rear seat forwards and fold the backrests down.
Remove the left luggage compartment side trim.
Remove all of the access trims on the left.
On vehicles fitted with an airbag in the side flanks of the backrest it is imperative to pay
attention to the safety precautions when removing and fitting airbag components.
Remove the bonnet release lever and side trim in the left footwell.
Remove the glove compartment and trim elements below the glove compartment.
Remove the knee airbag (where present -> observe safety precautions!) and BCM.
Loosen the control units and the interior load distributor.
Loosen the interior load distributor from the console.
Remove the cover of the vehicle's 40 mm opening for the wiring harness for the towing hitch in the
luggage compartment floor panel at the back on the left.
Feed the 12-wire wiring harness out through the opening provided and fit the pre-assembled socket
insert with the supplied socket housing to the trailer hitch mounting plate as follows:
Towing hitch with closed socket mounting plate:
Cleanly prepare the pre-perforated, arch-shaped area on the right-hand (as seen from the front),
flattened side of the attached socket housing, so that the outlet is on the right.
Carefully remove the socket seal for the centre outlet, which is not needed here, without damaging
the insulating sleeving!
Insert the pre-assembled socket insert of the wiring harness into the socket housing, click it into the
supports and then use the pre-fitted screws in the socket housing to mount it on the towing hitch
mounting plate.
The supplied M5 x 24 screws and M5 nuts may not be needed
(See Fig. 1).

Left-hand drive vehicles:
Remove the left storage compartment in the dash panel.
Remove the covers from the left front face of the dash panel.
Remove the trims from underneath the steering wheel.
Remove the driver's foot support and its console.
Right-hand drive vehicles:
Remove the covers from the left front face of the dash panel.
Remove the side trim in the left footwell.
