Unblocking the extruder
A blocked extruder is the most common problem with any 3D filament printer and cannot be prevented
entirely
When loading/unloading the filament, a blockage can often be avoided by waiting until the extruder has
reached the temperature corresponding to the filament.
It is especially important to remove old filament residue between using different filaments.
Different filament properties (even printing the same material in a different color) can cause block-
ages due to inconsistencies.
Do not switch off the SIMPLEX 3D filament printer until the nozzles have cooled down (< 60°C).
(Note: Extruder fan shuts down at < 60°C). If you switch off the SIMPLEX 3D filament printer when
the extruder is hot, the temperature can spread from the extruder into the heatbreak, melt the fila-
ment and lead to clogging after the extruder has cooled..
You can clear a blockage in the extruder with the smallest of the Allen keys provided.
Caution! Danger of burns!
The blockage must be cleared while the print head / extruder is hot.
Wear protective gloves!
⇒ If you have not already done so, remove the filament (see Chap. 7.6).
⇒ Move the lever at the top of the extruder to the left.
⇒ Heat the extruder to 250 °C.
⇒ Press out excess filament by inserting the Allen key into the opening. Ensure
that you do this as necessary but not forcefully as this would damage the ma-
chine
If the blockage cannot be cleared, you must replace the nozzle (see the following
chapter).

Replacing the nozzle
To replace the nozzle, proceed as follows:
⇒ If you have not already done so, remove the filament (see Chap. 7.6).
⇒ Turn off the heating of the extruder and print bed and allow both to cool down.
⇒ Move the print bed into the lowest position (AXES
⇒ Place a cloth or a cardboard box on the print bed to protect the Kapton film.
⇒ Switch off the printer.
⇒ Manually move the print head to a working position that is con-
venient for you
⇒ Loosen the two screws holding the fan assembly approx. 1 turn
(Fig. 68).
⇒ Pull the fan assembly forwards to lift it off.
⇒ Disconnect the connector and set the fan assembly aside
⇒ Loosen the left screw of the clamping plate approx. 1 turn and
remove the right screw (Fig. 69).
⇒ Rotate the clamping plate towards the back so that there is
space to move the heater cartridge cable
