Description and intended use:
Modular, one-size-fits-all hip stabilising orthosis that can be used for either the left or
right hip. Composed of a pelvic band and thigh support connected by a joint that can
be adjusted to provide from 0° to 90° of flexion-extension in intervals of 15°, and 0°, 15°
or 30° of abduction.
Indications:
Post hip surgery. Replacement or repair of total hip prosthesis. Hip dislocation. Fractures
associated with hip replacement. Instability of the hip joint. Osteoporosis. Loosening of
hip endoprostheses. Moderate to severe coxarthrosis.
Warnings:
• Read these instructions carefully before using the orthosis. If you have any questions,
consult your doctor or the shop that sold you the product.
• For the orthosis to serve its purpose, it must be correctly adjusted to the patient's
morphology. The first fitting and adjustment must be carried out by qualified
personnel (doctor, orthopaedic technician, etc.)
• Always follow these general instructions of use and any particular guidelines
indicated by your general practitioner.
• Only a doctor is qualified to prescribe and determine the duration of treatment and
carry out subsequent monitoring.
• If you notice any side effects, skin conditions or sensitivity, consult your doctor
immediately.
• Your doctor might consider the use of topical creams in conjunction with the
orthosis.
• In areas where pressure is applied, the skin should not be damaged or hypersensitive.
• Although the orthosis is not for single use, it should only be used by one patient. The
product should not be reused by other patients.
• For the orthosis to function correctly, its components must be regularly checked to
ensure they are in good condition. The medical staff responsible for monitoring the
treatment may recommend the product to the patient or suggest that it be replaced
if it is damaged or worn.
• To ensure they function correctly, clean the hook-and-loop fastenings regularly,
removing any material that may have stuck to them.
• Some of the materials that make up the product are not flame retardant. Therefore,
its use is not recommended in environments with excessive heat, fire or radiation.
• Clean the product regularly and maintain proper hygiene.
• Ask your doctor if you can remove the orthosis when bathing or showering. If you
cannot, make sure you cover it or keep it away from the water.
• Do not let children play with this device.
Fitting and adjustment instructions:
1. Adjust the pelvic band to fit the patient as shown in fig. 9 before fitting the orthosis.
2. Position and adjust the height of the joint.
2.1 Firstly, attach the upper shell of the joint to the pelvic band on the side of the
hip to be treated using the hook-and-loop self-fasteners. Important: ensure the
hook-and-loop self-fasteners adhere along the entire width of the band. Note: The
orthosis comes preassembled for the right side.
Once the upper shell is in place, adjust the height of the joint by aligning the
adjustment wheel with the height of the trochanter. To do this, use the Allen key
to loosen the screws that attach the joint to the shell and move it until the desired
position is achieved. After adjusting, retighten the screws.
If necessary, to improve the fit to the patient's anatomy, the inclination angle of the
joint's upper bar can be adjusted. To do this, use an Allen key to loosen the upper
side screw (A) (see fig. 1) without removing it completely, then adjust the inclination
