OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
SUBMERSIBLE PUMP SUB SERIES
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
WARNING:
Electrical connection should only be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with
local regulations. Follow all safety standards.
The unit must always be earthed, also with a non-metallic supply pipe.
CAUTION:
In the case of water containing chloride (or salt water), the earthing conductor is
also useful to reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion due to electrolytic action, especially with the
non-metallic supply pipe and the safety cable.
•
Make sure that the mains frequency and mains voltage match the data on the rating plate.
•
For use in swimming pools (not when people are in the pool), garden ponds and similar places, a
residual current device with IAN not exceeding 30 mA must be installed in the supply circuit.
•
Install a mains disconnection device (circuit breaker) with a contact separation of at least 3 mm
at all poles.
•
When the water level is not under direct visible control, install a float switch or electrodes to pro-
tect the pump against dry running and to stop the water levels and start the pump automatically.
•
When extension cables are used, ensure that the cable wires are adequately sized to avoid vol-
tage drops. For connection of cables in a well, use heat-shrinkable sheaths or other methods for
submerged cables.
4.1 Single-phase pumps
Supplied with built-in thermal protector. The motor will stop if overheating is detected. When the win-
dings cool down (after 2 to 4 minutes), the thermal protector allows restarting.
The control box with the start capacitor is included in the scope of delivery.
4.2 Three-phase pumps
Install an overload protection device in the control box in accordance with the current rating plate.
