Replace the hydrophobic filter

Replace the hydrophobic filter when it is torn or has become saturated
with water or grease. To examine the hydrophobic filter, refer to
the dessicant beads
on page 22.
For the best performance and to avoid grease buildup during
submergence or surcharge conditions, make sure that the dessicant
cartridge is installed vertically so the end cap points down.
Note: It may be necessary to replace the hydrophobic filter any time the cartridge
is submerged or comes in contact with excess moisture.
1. Disconnect the tubing from the top of the desiccant canister.
2. Turn the hex-head tubing nipple to remove it from the top of the
canister. Discard the old filter.
3. Discard any used Teflon tape from the nipple threads.
4. Apply two turns of Teflon tape to the threads. Pull the Teflon tape
into the threads until it has the same shape as the threads.
5. Put a new filter over the hole. Make sure that the smooth side of the
filter is towards the inside of the canister. Refer to
6. Put the threaded nipple on top of the filter.
7. With a slight pressure, push the filter into the hole with the nipple
threads. Turn the nipple to install it in the hole.
The filter will bend upward and go completely into the thread until it
cannot be seen. The filter must turn with the nipple as the nipple is
turned into the cap. If the filter does not turn, it is torn. Start the
procedure again with a new filter.
8. Look in the upper cap. A small, dim light spot should be seen when
held up to the light. If a bright spot is seen, the filter is torn. Start the
procedure again with a new filter.
