ELECTRICAL
WARNING
Match motor voltage and power supply voltage.
voltage must be within ±10% of motor nameplate volt-
age. Incorrect voltage can cause a fi re or seriously dam-
age the motor and voids warranty. If in doubt, consult a
licensed electrician.
Use wire size specifi ed in wiring chart. If possible, con-
nect the pump to a separate branch circuit with no other
appliances on it.
1. Install, ground, wire and maintain the pump in accor-
dance with your local electrical code and all other
codes/ordinances that apply. Consult your local build-
ing inspector for code information.
2. Connect the ground wire fi rst. The ground wire must
be a solid copper wire at least as large as the power
supply wires and must meet local and national code
requirements.
Explosion hazard. Do not ground to a gas
supply line.
If you install a pressure switch, there must be a solid
metal connection between pressure switch and motor
to provide motor grounding protection. If the pressure
switch is not connected to the motor, connect the
ground screw in the switch to the motor ground screw.
Use a solid copper wire at least as large as power
supply wires.
Connect the ground wire to a grounded lead in the
service panel, a metal underground water pipe, a well
casing at least 10' (3M) long, or to a ground electrode
provided by the power company.
Connect the cable to the pump as shown in Figure 2.

Lubrication
The motor is lubricated at the factory for the life of
the bearings. The pump seal is water cooled and self
lubricating.
Pump Service
cause death. Unplug the pump before servicing it. Do not
handle the pump or attempt to work on the pump with
wet hands or while standing on a wet or damp fl oor.
The motor has an auto-reset thermal overload protector.
If the motor overheats, the overload will cut off the power
to prevent damage and will reset after the motor cools. If
the overload trips repeatedly, check the pump for the cause
(low voltage, a clogged impeller, etc.).
