Powering On the ESU
1. Turn the ESU on by pressing the power switch (to the "1" position)
located in the power input module on the ESU rear panel (Figure
5-12 through Figure 5-15).
2. The ESU automatically initiates a self-test procedure which is
indicated by the illuminated front panel and ESU Remote displays
and continuous audio tone generated for approximately 2 seconds. If
no system malfunction is detected, the ESU proceeds to the
STANDBY Mode.
NOTE: The Electrosurgical Probe is not required to be connected to
3. If a system malfunction is detected during self-test, all front panel
displays remain lit and the ESU does not operate. If any
malfunctions are found during self-test, power the ESU OFF, then
back ON to attempt to clear the malfunction. The self-test will repeat.
CAUTION
Turning the RF Power Delivery "ON"
To deliver RF power to the Probe, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that all connections are secure and correct.
2. Verify that all preceding selections have been made.
To begin RF power delivery, press the RF POWER CONTROL
Button once. The POWER Display shows the RF power delivered to
the Probes (in watts).
Turning the RF Power Delivery "OFF"
To discontinue RF power delivery manually during operation (DELIVER
Mode), Press the RF POWER CONTROL Button.
8. CONTROLLING THE ESU
ESU in STANDBY Mode
Refer to Figure 5-1 for the location of displays and buttons.
1. When the ESU has successfully completed POST, the ESU enters
the STANDBY mode. The RF POWER CONTROL Light will blink to
indicate that the ESU is in STANDBY mode.

indicative of an ESU malfunction and should be referred
to AtriCure for service. The ESU does NOT operate
unless the initial self-test has been successfully
