Setting instructions
Winding and time setting:
The winding and time-setting crown (I) can be placed in two
positions A and B.
A: Pushed down against the case, winding position.
This is the normal position when the watch is being worn.
When the power reserve hand (8) is close to the minimum, or
every day at roughly the same time, wind the watch by rotating the
winding and time-setting crown (I). The power reserve hand (8) lets
you monitor how much the watch has been wound.
Do not force the winding mechanism when you feel resistance
increasing.
When the power reserve hand (8) is on the minimum graduation, the
spring is almost entirely unwound and the watch may stop or be less
accurate.
B: Time-setting position.
When pulled out to this position, rotation of the winding and time-
setting crown (I) enables the time to be set. Afterwards push the
winding and time-setting crown (I) back to position A to restart the
watch.
It is preferable generally to set the time by advancing the hour and
minute hands (1 and 2) in the clockwise direction. The hands can
however be moved backwards provided you end the adjustment
by advancing them. Above all, do not pass the time at which the
date changes (between 10pm and 1am) by turning the hands in the
anticlockwise direction (the date changes at midnight precisely,
however some mechanical components are in action before and
after this time).
16
NOTE: If the time is being set in the afternoon, the hour hand (1)
must have completed more than one full revolution since the last
day, month and date change (hands 4, 5 and 6) to ensure that the
date changes at midnight.
Rapid adjustment of the perpetual calendar:
If the watch has been stopped for a few days only, it is easier to pull
out the winding and time-setting crown (I) to position B and advance
the hands by the time elapsed since the watch stopped. This method
conserves the synchronisation of the different displays.
Full adjustment of the perpetual calendar:
If the watch has been stopped for longer, you will have to set all
indications one by one, firstly with indications corresponding to the
day before that on which you set the time.
First, readjust the leap year indicator (7) by pressing the month
corrector pushpiece (V) using the corrector pen (VI) supplied with
the watch. Then continue pressing to display the current month
(5) (or the previous month if the adjustment is being carried out
on the first of the month). Then press the date corrector (Ill) using
the corrector pen (VI) supplied with the watch to set the date (6) to
yesterday's date.
If the day of the week hand (4) does not point to yesterday's day
of the week, correct the indication by pressing the day of the week
corrector pushpiece (IV) using the corrector pen (VI) supplied with
the watch. Each time the corrector is pressed the day of the week
hand (4) advances by one day.
IMPORTANT: Do not adjust the day of the week, month or the date
(4 to 6) by pressing the correctors (III, IV and V) between 7pm and
1am.
