Cleaning Instructions

Clean the heater on a regular basis to maintain proper
combustion and to eliminate future problems.
Frequency of cleaning depends on ventilation characteristics
of the building.
Problems associated with lack of cleaning are:
■ Black soot inside canopy
■ Gas back-fl ashing in venture tube or air housing
■ Burner fl ame appearing beyond emitter.
Before cleaning, close the fuel supply valve to the heaters
and allow the heater to cool.

HEATER

A. Cleaning with pressurized air. See Fig 9.
■ Remove the fi lter(s).
■ Blow dust off the heater.
■ Direct the air nozzle at the emitter, working your way
around the entire emitter.
■ Blow air through the emitter and down the venturi tube
to loosen any dust in the venturi tube.
■ Reverse the process. Turn the heater with its emitter
pointed down and blow air through the air inlet opening
down the venturi tube to the emitter.
■ Repeat this process several times or until dust is no
longer observed.
■ Inspect for reasonable cleanliness.
■ Return the heater to its proper hanging position.

B. Cleaning with water.
The following should only be accomplished if the heater(s)
cannot be cleaned adequately by the air method.
■ Remove the fi lter(s).
■ Follow the same procedures as done with "Cleaning
■ Repeat these steps until water runs clean.
■ SHAKE THE HEATER vigorously to clear water off
■ Return the heater to its proper hanging position.
■ Relight the heater to dry out the emitter and venturi

• DO NOT tap on the fi lter while the fi lter is installed
on the heater. Doing so will cause dust to be blown
into the venturi tube or emitter.
• Remove the fi lter and shake off the dust.
• Use compressed air or water to clean the fi lters.
• If cleaning the foam fi lter, DO NOT use a washing
machine. Filter material damage will occur.
• If water is used, shake off excess water from the
foam fi lter before installation.
• Allow the foam fi lter to air dry before lighting the
heater.
