3.2 Risk of burns with acid
During measurement of the exhaust gas, is used hoses for
collecting exhaust gases which, if they reach temperatures
exceeding 250 ° C or in case of fire, a gas release extremely
corrosive (hydrogen fluoride), which may affect the respiratory
tract.
How to proceed:
• In case of inhalation, seek medical attention immediately!
• To eliminate the remnants of combustion, pour yourself neoprene gloves or
PVC.
• Neutralize the remnants of combustion through a solution of calcium
hydroxide. The resulting therefrom is calcium fluoride which is not toxic and can
be washed with water.
Acids and alkaline solutions can seriously erode the unprotected
skin. The hydrogen fluoride, together with moisture (water), form
hydrofluoric acid. The water which accumulates in the hose
collection exhaust gas and condensate container also contains
acid.
How to proceed:
• When replacing the O2 sensor measuring remember it contains an alkaline
solution.
• When replacing the NO sensor measuring remember that it contains acid.
• Rinse the area immediately affected skin and seek medical attention!
• The sensors measuring NO and O2 are special waste and should be treated
as such. Your dealer Tecnomotor undertakes to properly eliminate the measuring
sensors.
