The generator performance will also suffer when used at an altitude
below that for which the fuel feed system has been adjusted; too
weak a petrol / air mixture will result in the engine overheating and
possibly suffering serious damage.

MAINTENANCE

The engine and the muffler reach temperatures sufficient to
cause burns if touched and to start a fire if adjacent to
inflammable material. Allow the engine to cool before carrying
out any maintenance.
CAUTION :
• Only use original Honda parts. Parts that do not meet the Honda
design specifications can cause damage to the generator.

ENGINE OIL CHANGE

CAUTION :
• Prolonged and frequent contact with used engine oil can cause
skin cancer. Although this is unlikely, it is sensible to wash your
hands thoroughly after handling used engine oil.
• Drain the oil while the engine is still warm so that the oil flows out
quickly and completely.
1. For ECMT7000 only:
Undo the 6 screws maintaining
the left side plate and remove the
plate.
2. Remove the oil filler cap [3] and
the drain plug [4].
3. Put the drain plug [4] back on,
complete with its ring seal [5] and
tighten fully.
4. Fill up with the recommended oil
level is flush with the oil filler tube.

NOTE: Protection of the environment: Waste oil is a serious
source of pollution of our environment; we strongly recommend that
you take it in a leak-proof container to a service station or a waste
disposal site, which will recycle it. Do not throw oil away with
household waste, and do not dispose of it by pouring it away on the
ground or down the drain.

AIR CLEANER MAINTENANCE

The engine will not run properly if the air cleaner is dirty: it is very
important that the air cleaner is serviced regularly.
Never use petrol or inflammable solvents to clean air cleaner
elements: these products can cause fire and damage the air
cleaner elements.
1. Detach the clips [6] and remove
the air cleaner cover [7], and
remove the foam element [8].
Check that it is not torn or
blocked. Replace it if damaged.
2. Cleaning:
- wash the element [8] in a
solution of warm water and
non-foamy household
detergent and then rinse,
- then leave to dry completely.
Immerse the element in clean
engine oil and press it to
remove the excess oil. If too
much oil is left in the foam, the
engine will smoke when started
for several times afterwards.
3. Reinstall the foam element [8],
the air cleaner cover [7] and close
the clips [6] correctly.
CAUTION :
• Do not use the generator without
its air cleaner, as this can damage
the engine.
CLEANING OF SEDIMENT CUP AND FUEL FILTER
1. Close the fuel shut-off valve ("OFF"
position) and the remove the cup [9],
the O-ring [10] and the fuel shut-off
valve filter [11].
2. Wash the parts in a non-inflammable
solvent and dry them. Check that the
filter is not damaged.
3. Open the fuel shut-off valve ("ON"
position) and drain the petrol in the
tank, collecting it in an approved
container.
4. Replace the filter [11], the O-ring [10]
and tighten the sediment cup as far as
it will go [9].
5. Loosen the nut [12] to remove the fuel
shut-off valve and the fuel filter [14].
6. Wash the filter in a non-inflammable
solvent. Check that it is not damaged.
7. Rinse and clean the tank if necessary.
8. Check that the O-ring [13] is correctly
installed, replace the filter [14] and
tighten the nut [12].
9. Make sure that there is no leak.
