Description of use
Bionova® IC10/20FR incubator has been designed to in-
cubate BT110 Rapid Readout Self-Contained Biological
Indicators (BIs) for Ethylene Oxide sterilization processes
control, BT220 and BT221 for Steam sterilization pro-
cesses, BT102 for Formaldehyde sterilization processes
control, BT95 for Plasma or Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxi-
de sterilization and Super Rapid Readout Self-Contained
Biological Indicators BT222 and BT223 for Steam steriliza-
tion processes control.
Microorganisms contained within the Biological Indi-
cators vary depending on the sterilization process for
which they have been designed, therefore, incubation
temperatures diff er depending on the indicator. Indica-
tors for Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization control, should
be incubated at 37ºC, while those involved in the moni-
toring of the rest of the sterilization processes should be
incubated at 60ºC. SIMULTANEOUS INCUBATION OF
BIs FOR EO PROCESSES CONTROL WITHIN BIs MONI-
TORING THE OTHER PROCESSES, IS NOT POSSIBLE.
Bionova® IC10/20FR incubator allows easy and rapid
detection of positive and negative Biological Indicators.
Five incubation programs are available: 4 hours at 37ºC,
3 hours at 60ºC, 2 hours at 60ºC, 1 hour at 60ºC and 30
minutes at 60ºC. A positive result can also be evidenced
through color change of the culture medium, which tur-
ns to yellow after 48 hours or 7 days of incubation at 60ºC
for BT220/BT221/BT222/BT223/BT102/BT95 and after a
7-day incubation at 37ºC for BT110 BIs. Incubation times
depend on internal protocols of the laboratory or hospi-
tal. However, due to the high sensitivity of the fl uores-
cence results, conventional incubation for color change
is not an advantage.
The IC10/20FR Bionova® incubator contains a special ca-
vity to run quantitative readings of the Chemdye® PRO
System, wich includes a series of products destined to
the surface cleaning and contamination control.
Bionova® IC10/20FR auto-reader not only allows the
detection of results, but also provides a printed ticket to
record them. In addition, the auto-reader can be connec-

ted to computers by USB. This allows to link the results
with the Bionova® Automatic readout and traceability
system for sterilization biological indicators program.
