Could the UM-1G's ADVANCE (mode select) switch be turned ON?
Set the UM-1G's [ADVANCED DRIVER] (mode select) switch to the OFF position, and reconnect
the UM-1G. Then reinstall the UM-1G driver (standard driver) as described in "Connecting the
MIDI device (UM-1G)" (p. 8).
Is the UM-1G connected correctly?
Make sure that the UM-1G is connected to your computer's USB connector.
Could you have mistaken the MIDI IN and OUT cables?
Check the MIDI cable connections.
Are your computer's power conservation settings turned off?
If power conservation or power management functions are active on your computer, disable
them. For details on how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation.
Is the your computer's USB compatible?
Refer to your computer's documentation, and check to be sure that its USB specifications are
compatible.
Does your computer or USB hub have sufficient power supply capacity?
The UM-1G cannot be connected if insufficient power is supplied to it. Check whether one of
the following cases apply.
• If you are using the UM-1G with a notebook computer that is running on its battery,
operation may be unreliable with some models of computer. If this is the case, connect the
AC adaptor to your notebook computer.
• The power conservation mode of your computer may limit the power that is supplied to
USB. Check the settings of your computer.
• In some cases, the UM-1G cannot be used with a bus-powered hub (a hub that does not
contain a power supply). Please use a self-powered hub (a hub that contains a power
supply).
Does your computer meet the requirements for USB?
If your computer does not meet the requirements of the USB specification, operation may be
unstable. If so, you may be able to solve the problem by connecting a USB hub that contains
a power supply.
External MIDI sound module does not sound
Are the connections and settings of your external MIDI sound module correct?
Check that the connections and settings of your external MIDI sound module are correct (p. 19).
