Commissioning and operation
Prior to initial commissioning, the machine or
system safety functions must be fully checked by
specialist personnel and also documented.
After every change and after maintenance and
repair work, the entire protective device must be
checked for effectiveness by specialist personnel.
6.1 Tests before the initial
commissioning
Check observance of the conditions as per
chapter 4.
Perform electrical function test on the sensor
together with an appropriate evaluation unit or a
safe control.
6.1.1

Checking start function

The check must be performed separately for each pro-
tective device.
Deactivate the machine or the system.
Open the protective device.
Start the machine or system; if the safety function of
the protective device is correct, the machine or system
must not start.
If, nevertheless, the machine or system starts, again
check compliance with mounting conditions, the
correctness of all electrical connections and correct
the function of the safety system.
