7.3 Turning the saw head

WARNING
Inadvertent activation of the saw can cause injuries from the saw
blade.
Make sure that the trigger is blocked before turning the saw
head!
Turn the catch on the trigger 8 to the OFF position.
Note
The saw may be activated only when the saw head is locked to prevent
turning. Working with inadvertently released saw head may cause
damage to the sagittal saw.
You can turn the saw head 11 to four different positions:
a
Fig. 11
• The saw head 11 cannot be turned through 360° but in each case
only up to a stop.
• The saw head must snap in perceptibly in each of the four positions.
• Before sawing, the saw head must be locked in the respective po-

8. Functional test

Each time before use, you must subject the ACCULAN sagittal saw
with the inserted saw blade to a test run.
To do this, first check whether the saw blade is firmly secured in
the coupling (see Section 7).
Operate the sagittal saw briefly at maximum speed. Check that it
is functioning properly and reliably. The sagittal saw must not heat
up to an unusual extent nor make unusual noises.
Each time before use, check the saw blades in the unclamped state
for damage and wear.
Note
Each intraoperative battery change has to be followed by a functional
test!
CAUTION
Blunt saw blades and poorly maintained or unmaintained machines
can heat up very quickly and may cause burns on skin and tissue!
Only use fault-free saw blades.
Replace blunt or damaged saw blades.
