On some later 1.9TDi engines DT.4749 Plate can set the camshaft without the need to remove the camshaft cover.
The vacuum pump is removed giving access to the slot in the end of the camshaft.
The vacuum pump retaining bolt holes are used to attach the DT.4749 bolts and the Plate slides along the bolts
and into the slot to retain timing position.
Injection Pump Locking Pins
DT.3054V3 and DT.4440V2
- Refer to Application Chart for model usage
Locking Pins are designed to pass through datum holes in the sprockets into fixed holes on the engine.
DT3054V3 is the larger diameter of the two locking pins and is used on engines having a One Piece
Injection Pump Sprocket.
DT.4440V2 is used when 2-Part Sprockets are fitted (Sprockets with three retaining bolts securing a front sprocket
to a rear mounting).
Tensioner Adjustment
DT.4444 Tensioner Adjuster
The tensioner roller has two holes into which the two "pegs" of DT.4444 locate to allow the tensioner to be turned
to apply tension to the timing belt.
Section 2:
Pumpe Düse (Unit Injection)
DIESEL ENGINES
VAG Pumpe Düse diesel engines use a constant pressure fuel pump and each of the injectors
are operated directly by the camshaft.
Crankshaft Position
DT.4636 Crankshaft Locking Tool
The crankshaft is turned clockwise to TDC position so that the timing marks align correctly.
The crankshaft gear is the 'locked' in this position using DT.4636 Locking Tool.
The tool slides into the gear teeth from the front and locates into the hole in the oil seal housing.
IMPORTANT: The timing mark "arrow" on the DT.4636 Locking Tool must align with the mark on the crank gear.
Temporarily remove the plastic knob off the tool to improve visibility.
