8 . OPERATING TROUBLE

Any operation SWITCH OFF the pump.
TROUBLE
8.1. THE PUMP IS NOISY
8.2. THE CIRCULATOR
FAILS TO START

IN NORMAL
OPERATION
CAUSES
a) The suction pressure is too
low :
b) Bad direction of rotation
of the motor :
c) Air in installation :
d) Bad choice of speed :
e) Foreign bodies in the
impeller :
a) No power supply to the
circulator :
b) The capacitor is defective
(single-phase) :
c) The motor is jammed :
a) One fuse has tripped :
b) The thermal relay has
tripped :
c) The motor is out of order :
a) Raise the pressure in the circuit.
b) Check the motor is turning in the right direction.
c) Check the bleeding of the installation.
d) Check the operating point and the speed setting, and
if necessary correct the latter.
e) Remove the motor and clean the impeller.
a) - Check the connection of the motor.
- Check the installation fuses.
- Check the main voltage.
b) Replace it, see characteristics on the rear plate
c) - If the motor is set to an intermediate or slow speed, set
the selector to maximum speed.
- Shaft stalled by fouling after a prolonged shutdown :
free the shaft, remove the black name plate
(See FIG. 5), remove the venting screw, use a flat-
bladed screwdriver to turn the motor shaft. Then reinsert
the venting screw and the name plate.
a) Check the fuses.
b) - Check the water temperature.
- Check the power supply.
c) Remove it and replace it with a motor unit of the same
type.
Nota : the probe automatically resets when the motor
has cooled down.

Salmson after-sales.
