3.3.1

Checking readiness for use

Perform the following steps before using the communication unit:
1. Establish the connection to the radio:
Connect the communication unit to the radio via the radio
connector cable.
Or
Connect the communication unit and radio via Bluetooth (see
Chapter 3.3.2 on Page 28).
2. Switch on the radio and initially adjust the volume to a low setting.
3. Switch on the communication unit.
4. Check the voice amplifier unit: The volume of spoken words must
be amplified.
5. Adjust the volume of the radio such that an incoming signal does
not cause hearing damage.
6. Press the push-to-talk button and check that the communication is
functioning.
When using the insert for the Bluetooth connection, wait until the
radio and the communication unit are connected to each other
(see Chapter 3.3.2 on Page 28).
If no Bluetooth connection can be established, the insert must be
coupled again to the radio.
3.3.2
Connecting the communication unit and radio via
Bluetooth
The insert for the Bluetooth connection must be fitted. Depending on
whether a new connection or a previous connection is to be
established, proceed as follows:
Establishing a new connection (pairing)
1. Set the radio to pairing mode.
2. Switch on the Bluetooth pairing mode of the communication unit:
To do so, hold down the ON/OFF button and Push-to-Talk button
28
at the same time, until the LED flashes blue (see Page 2, blink
pattern 4).
3. On the radio, select the communication unit and, if necessary,
enter the activation PIN (0000).
In the factory setting, the Bluetooth name of the communication
unit is the serial number of the module for the Bluetooth
connection. It can be modified via the configuration software.
NOTICE

i
When using a Motorola APX radio, hold the blue dot over the
area on the communication unit indicated in Figure N on
Page 7.
Once the connection has been successfully established, the
readiness for operation is displayed: the LED lights up green (see
Page 2, blink pattern 1).
4. Press the push-to-talk button and check that communication is
working.
Restoring a known connection (reconnecting)
When the radio and the communication unit have been successfully
paired, both devices can be automatically connected when they are
next switched on. Not all radios support this recognition function. Also
pay attention to the configuration of the radio.
Switch on the communication unit. To do so, press the ON/OFF
button for approx. 1 second.
The LED starts to flash blue (see Page 2, blink pattern 5).
The communication unit remains in restore mode until a
successful connection is established.
