V. SET UP & USE OF YOUR WHEELCHAIR
BB. Anti-Tips
3. Adjusting Anti-tip Angle
a. In most cases, the angle of the anti-tip to correlates to the axle plate angle.
b. Using a 3mm Allen wrench and an 8mm wrench or socket, remove angle adjustment screw
and nut (Fig. 61:C).
c. Refer to Fig. 62. When axle bar angle is in position A, hole D in the anti-tip should be aligned
with hole G in the axle plate. Note that holes G, H and J are labeled on the endmost hole of
the axle plate for clarity, but the corresponding hole under the anti-tip should be used in
whatever position the anti-tip is in.
d. Similarly, for axle plate position B, hole E in the anti-tip should be aligned with hole H in the
axle plate and for axle plate position C, hole F in the anti-tip should be aligned with hole J in
the axle plate.
e. After retightening the screws and nuts, repeat for opposite side of chair, ensuring both sides
are set up identically.
4. Adjusting Anti-tip Height
a. Using a 4mm Allen wrench and a 10mm wrench or socket, remove extension screw and nut
(Fig. 62:I).
b. Align extension tube hole with anti-tip hole so that 1.5" to 2" (2.54 - 5.08 cm) gap is
achieved between the floor and the bottom of the anti-tip wheel.
c. Retighten extension screw and nut and repeat for opposite side of chair. Ensure that both
anti-tips are set up identically.
