Performing a functional test
Conduct the functional test as follows:
➤ Switch on the ignition and shift into reverse gear.
Be very careful when you operate the device for the first time, and make sure
that you familiarize yourself with the various sequences of beeps.
(The distance specifications relate to the factory settings.)
Zone Meaning (fig. 5, page 5)
1
The parking aid recognises obstacles
from a distance of around 1.8 m (meas-
ured from the sensor) and indicates them
with a series of slow beeps and flashes.
2
From a distance of around 1.15 m (meas-
ured from the sensor) the parking aid
switches to the medium beeping and
flashing sequence and the tone fre-
quency is increased.
3
At a distance of around 0.55 m (meas-
ured from the sensor) and less, it
switches to the high sequence and the
tone frequency is increased.
4
Stop zone: At a distance of around 0.3 m
(measured from the sensor) and below, it
switches to continuous tone/illumination.
When you reach this zone, stop the
vehicle.
Otherwise you might damage the vehicle
or the obstacle.
Caution!
In Zone 4, some obstacles may not be detected, because they are
no longer within range of the sensors (construction-related charac-
teristic).
