Pinion gear shim
NOTE:
Find the pinion gear shim thickness (T3) by
selecting shims until the specified measure-
ment (M) is obtained with the special tool.
1. Install:
Pinion height gauge
Drive shaft
Drive shaft bearing
Pinion height gauge:
90890-06702
Drive shaft holder:
90890-06517
NOTE:
Attach the pinion height gauge to the
drive shaft so that the drive shaft is cen-
tered in the gauge's hole.
After the wing nuts contact the fixing
plate, tighten them another 1/4 of a turn.
2. Install:
Pinion gear
Pinion gear nut
Pinion gear nut:
50 Nm (5.0 m • kg, 36 ft • lb)
3. Measure:
Measurement (M)
Digital caliper:
90890-06704
NOTE:
Measure the clearance between the pin-
ion height gauge and the pinion gear as
shown.
Perform the same measurement at three
points on the pinion gear.
Find the average of the measurements
(M).
