Trouble-shooting guide
_
Buzzing noise on AM, usually conspicu-

High pitch noise.
Crackling noise on AM and FM.
AM stations cannot be received.
Tuned indicator lights but sound is dis-
torted and separation is bad.
Tuned indicator flickers and/or a hiss is
heard.
No station or undesired station is recalled
when a Preset button is pressed.
® Noise from electrical apparatus such
as fluorescent lamps.
® Noise from TV.
® Noise caused by turning fluorescent
lamp on and off.
® Noise from automobile ignition.
®@ AM loop antenna is not attached.
® Multiple reflection of the radio waves
because of tall buildings or mountains.
® The station is too weak.
® Stereo FM broadcasts cover only about
half the distance of ordinary broadcasts.
© The Power switch has not been turned
on for a long time, or the power cord
has been unplugged for a long time.
® Move set to different location.
® Change the position or direction of the loop an-
tenna.
®@ Keep unit away from TV set.
® Move the antenna as far away as possible from
the fiuorescent lamp.
© Install an outdoor FM antenna as far away as
possible from the road.
© Connect the included AM loop antenna to the
AM antenna terminals.
® Use an antenna which has better directivity and
select a point where the distortion is least.
® Install outdoor FM antenna.
® Change the position or direction of the AM loop
antenna.
® Switch to mono reception. (Even stereo broad-
casts will be heard in mono.)
® The memory contents are lost if the power is not
turned on and off a few times each month. Store
