Oil Recommendations
Whenaddingoil to the engine,add 10%30 engineoil. Engineoil
capacityis 600 rnl (approx.20 oz.). Do notover-fill.Usea 4-stroke,
or an equivalenthighdetergent,premiumquality motoroil certifiedto
meetor exceedU.S.automobilemanufacturer's requirements for
serviceclassification SG, SE MotoroilsclassifiedSG, SFwill show
this desk nationon the container.
DO NOTuse non-detergent o il or 2-strokeengine oil. It could
shortenthe engine'sservicelife.

carefulnotto touchthe muffler.
The sparkplug (TorchF6RTC)shouldbe checkedevery25 hours
and changedoncea seasonor every 100hours.Toensureproper
engineoperation,the sparkplug mustalso be properlygappedand
freeof deposits.

Removethe sparkplug bootand use a sparkplug wrenchto
removethe plug, Figure12.

Visuallyinspectthe spark plug.Discardthe spark plugif there
is any apparentwear,or if the insulatoriscrackedor chipped.
Cleanthe sparkplug with a wirebrushif it is to be reused.

Measurethe plug gap with a feelergauge.Correctas neces-
sary by bendingthe sideelectrode,Figure13.The gap should
be set to .02-.03inches (0.70-0.80turn).

Checkthat the sparkplug washeris in good conditionand
threadthe sparkplug in byhand to preventcross-threading.

After the sparkplug is seated,tightenwith a sparkplug wrench
to compressthe washer.
NOTE:Wheninstalling a newsparkplug,tighten 1/2-turnafter the
spark plug seatsto compressthe washer.Whenreinstallinga used
spark plug,tighten1/8-to 1/4-turn after the spark plug seatsto
)tess the washer.
The sparkplug mustbe tightenedsecurely.A loosesparkplug can
becomever hotand can darna e the en ine.
Cleaning
the Engine
If theengine hasbeen running,allowit tocool for at least halfan
hour beforecleaning.Periodicallyremovedirt build-upfromengine.
Do not spraythe enginewith waterto cleanit becausethe water
couldcontaminate the fuel. Usinga gardenhoseor pressure
washingequipmentcan alsoforce waterinto the muffleropening.
Waterthat passesthroughthemufflercan enterthecylinderand
causedamage.
Accumulation of debrisaroundthe mufflercouldcause a fire.
Inspectand cleanbeforeeveryuse.
LUBRICATION
Lubricatethe pivot pointson the blade controlbail and the extension
springat the end of thecontrol cablewith a lightoil onceevery
seasonand beforethe snow throweris putinto storageat the end of
the season.
