installing the drive, any device or equipment such as chains
or locks, not needed for powered operation, must be removed
or disabled.
In the event of non-conformance with these
requirements, there is a risk of injury and material
damage caused by a falling operator or an uncontrolled
movement of the door.
When drilling the fastening holes, do not damage the building
structure or any electrical, water or other lines.
After lifting up the door operator to the ceiling, fasten it fully
with appropriate tools to prevent it from falling down. See
illustration on page 234.
Please observe appropriate industrial safety regulations and
keep children away during installation. Make sure that parts
of the door do not extend over public footpaths or roads.
8 Safety devices of the door operator
The door operator has the following safety devices. Do
not remove them or alter their functionality.
• Automatic load switch-off during functions "OPEN" and
"CLOSE"
• Connection for photo cell / safety edge / optosensor
• EMERGENCY stop connection: Connection of a switch
(optional) to an inset door mounted in the garage door, for
example
• Emergency release (see page 236 (K)). The emergency
release should be placed at a maximum height of 1,8 m.
Take care when operating the manual release since
an open door may fall rapidly due to weak or broken
springs, or being out of balance.
When the sectional door is provided with an inset door
(wicked door) for pedestrian use, in order to avoid
danger to persons, or damage to goods or to the door itself,
any operation of the sectional door must be prevented
whenever the pedestrian door is NOT COMPLETELY
CLOSED. For this a safety switch must be installed in the
pedestrian door, in such a way that it can safely recognize the
open door. The following requirements must be met:
- Only hardware supllied by Normstahl must be used.
- The safety switch must not be mounted on the hinge side
of the inset door.
- The wiring of the safety switch must be routed along a
dedicated protected path (conduit or similar), separated
from other cables (power, etc.). Any possibility clamping,
crushing, shearing or cutting of the spiral cable which
travels with the door must be carefully avoided.
- The safety switch cable must be connected to the
EMERGENCY STOP connector in the front panel of the
operator head.
- The correct installation and efficiency of the inset door
safety switch must be checked and documented by a
qualified technician at least every 6 months.

Checking load switch-off
The automatic load switch-off is a clamping and safety
mechanism that is designed to prevent accidents due to a
moving door.
Stop the door from outside with both hands at waist height.
When closing:
The door must stop automatically and reverse a little if it
comes into contact with an obstruction. When a contact
safety edge is provided, make sure that the closing door
reverses when it encounters an obstacle 50 mm high placed
in the floor below the door.
When opening:
The door must stop automatically when it meets with
resistance (if menu A7 = 001, it moves back a short distance).
After load switch-off, the door operator lights flash until the
next pulse or wireless command is received.
Emergency release
Check as per the information provided on page 236 (K)).
Additional safety devices
Check for proper functioning as per the manufacturer's
instructions.
