ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
CAUTION! ALWAYS FOLLOW THE SAFETY REGULATIONS!
5.1 SPECIALIZED PERSONNEL: The electrical installation
must be carried out by skilled electrician who assumes all
the responsability.
5.2 Connection
Ensure that the mains voltage and frequency are the
same as that shown on the plate of the motor, and that
there is the possibility of making a good earth connection.
It is advisable to reserve an electric power line
exclusively for the pump connection.
Upstream from the pump, fit a
sensitive magnetothermal differential switch.
The electrical installation must have a switch with at
least a 3mm. opening between contacts.
Switch off the power upstream from the system
before making the pump's electrical connection.
As a standard, the single-phase pump comes fully
equipped with an incorporated circuit-braker that will
protect it against voltage overload and shut-down.
Three-phase version should be protected with
suitable motor protection properly calibrated according to
the value of the data plateof the pump to be installed.
The single-phase model could comes with or within
in-built capacitor. The model without capacitor must be
installed like in "Annex A" Pic.1.
If the motor is overloaded it stops automatically:
once it has cooled it starts again automatically without
requiring any manual intervention.
It's imperative to connect the ground cable.
With the motor running, check to be sure that the
current value (in Amps) does not exeed the rating plate
specifications.
The electrical connections must be protect against
humidity. If there is any risk of flooding, the connections
must be moved to a protect area.
5.3 Connection diagram
The electrical connections could be listed in 3 different
categories: A: Single-phase pumps without float; B: Single-
phase pumps with float; C: Three-phase pumps. The
connection diagram attached in "Annex A" Pic.1 could be
described as:
1: start (blue)
2: march (brown)
3: common (black)
4: capacitor
5: cable
6: conduit
5.4 Electrical power cable
All the pumps are supplied with an electric cable. The
connection is "Y" Type in accord to the CEI EN 60335-2-41.
If the power cable is damaged in any way it must be
0,03A suitably

8: grounding (yellow-green)

replaced and not repaired.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly
qualified person in order to prevent all risks.
If an extension is required for the power supply
cable, be sure to use a high quality cable with an adequate
cross section in relation to the lenght of the cable and the
power of the motor. The connection should be made
properly and accurately by competent personnel. It's
important to use materials that will ensure perfect
insulation between the leads and that will be tight and
waterproof over time.
The lenght of the power cable on the electropump
limits the maximum depth of immersion at which the
pump may be used. The maximum depth of immersion is
stated on the pump plate and is calculate as the lenght of
the power cable less 3m in accord to CEI60335-2-41.
The length of the power cable (including electric plug
where is present) has values of tolerances in respect to the
nominal date supplied by the manufacturer of: - ±2% for
lenghts up to 20m; - ±2,5% for lenghts over 20m;
If present, the plug on the single phase version must
be connected to the electricity grid in an internal space far
from spurts, water jets or rain and must be accesible.
5.5 Checking direction of rotation
The direction ofrotation does not need to be checked
on the single phase model. Respect the connection
diagram attached in "Annex A" Pic.1 configuration A or B.
The correct direction of rotation is indicated on the
data plate of the pump near the the impeller location.
Check the exact rotation of the three-phase pump
only while the pump is submerged.
Dry operation of the pump causes irreparable
damage to the mechanical seal.
For the three phase model, check the direction of
rotation prior to starting up the pump. Be sure to work
under maximum safety condition as follows:
▪
Follow the connection diagram in "Annex A" Pic.1
configuration C;
▪
Start up the electric pump and observe the amount of
water being delivered;
▪
Stop the pump and invert two of the phase leads;
▪
Start up the pump again and compare the amount of
water being delivered with the amount delivered
previously;
▪
The proper direction of rotation corresponds to the
type of operation that ensures greater delivery.
Do not operate the pump in the opposite direction of
rotation any longer than 2/3min.

INSTALLATION
6.1 SKILLED TECHNICAL PERSONNEL: The installation
must be carried out by skiled personnel in possession of
the technical qualifications required by the specific
legislation in force. The term "skilled personal" means
persons whose training, experience and instruction, as
well as their knowledge of the respective standards and
requirements for accident prevention and working
conditions, have been approved by the person in charge
of plant safety, authorizing them to perform all the
necessary activities, during which they are able to
