Care and Cleaning
1. Unplug. Wipe Base, Control Panel, and cord with a damp cloth or
sponge. If necessary, use a mild, nonabrasive cleaner.
2. Bowl, Lid, Food Pushers, Blades, and Disc are dishwasher-safe in top-
rack only, or hand-wash in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
3. NOTE: If food particles get trapped in back of Food Chute above
handle, place area under running water to rinse pieces out before
putting in dishwasher.
Troubleshooting
Unit does not operate on any speed or Pulse.
• Is unit plugged in? Does outlet work?
• Is Lid latched in place? Place Lid on Bowl, making sure to align Pour
Spout on Lid with Pour Spout on Bowl.
• Is Large Food Pusher in Food Chute? Large Food Pusher must be in
place to operate.
• Is Food Chute overfilled? Do not add food above Food Chute MAX Fill
Line. Large Food Pusher must be in Food Chute to operate.
Food is not sliced or shredded uniformly.
• Packing too much food in Food Chute or pushing too hard on Food Pusher
may cause processed food to be irregulary sliced or shredded. Refer to
"Processing Charts" for recommended sizes and quantities.
Unit stops and will not come back on.
• Is Lid latched in place? Place Lid on Bowl, making sure to align Pour
Spout on Lid with Pour Spout on Bowl.
• Is outlet still working? Check it by plugging in a working lamp or other
appliance. You may have overloaded circuit and blown a fuse or
tripped circuit breaker.
• This machine is equipped with motor overload protection. If motor stops
during operation due to overheating, unplug and allow it to cool down for
15 minutes before resuming process.
• If none of these suggestions correct the problem, DO NOT attempt to

cleaning. Do not immerse cord, plug, or base in any liquid.
4. DO NOT use "SANITIZE" setting when washing in dishwasher.
SANITIZE cycle temperatures could damage your product. All
removable parts may also be cleaned in sink with hot, soapy water.
Use caution when washing Stainless Steel Chopping/Pureeing Blade
and Slicing/Shredding Disc.
Unit has a burning smell.
• There may be a residue left on motor from manufacturing process,
causing a slight odor during initial use. This will go away. If a strong
odor or any visible smoke appears, unplug unit IMMEDIATELY and
visit hamiltonbeach.com.
Motor seems weak.
• Are you using recommended food size and quantity to be processed?
Refer to "Processing Charts" for recommended food sizes and speeds.
Cheese is not shredding well.
• Cheese should be processed immediately after being removed from
refrigerator. Soft cheese like mozzarella should be placed in freezer
for 30 minutes prior to processing to ensure it is firm enough for
shredding.
Vegetables are not shredding or slicing.
• Store vegetables with high water content in refrigerator prior to
processing. Room-temperature vegetables are less firm and do not
perform as well.
Food particles stuck in back of Food Chute above handle.
• Place back of Food Chute under running water to rinse out food before
placing in dishwasher.
